School Leaders Self Insuarnce Pool (S.L.I.P) Minimize

It is with great pleasure that the MSGIA board of directors announces the launch of its self insured property and liability pool.  The program and coverage will became effective at 12:01 am on July 1st, 2008 and now compliments and adds additional value to the self-funded model that MSGIA has proven so successful, since the inception of our self-funded workers’ compensation risk retention pool in 1989.  The same elements and key ingredients that have benefited our members so well over the years will exist in the new program as well.  Those elements include ownership, self governance of and accountability to those purchasing the product.

The program and coverage will became effective at 12:01 am on July 1st, 2008.  Coverage binders will be sent out this afternoon by the MSGIA to each district and agent if represented, with your premium notice and billing.  School district’s policy and related documents will be delivered to each district as soon as possible and until that time your coverage binder will serve as proof of insurance as of July 1st as noted above.

School district’s commitment to self insurance is very strong in our state as it is across the country.  The ability for our members to create a property and liability program whose only profit motive is to provide our districts with the best risk management services, competitive rating structure, broad coverage, and stable premiums through all the insurance cycles is a testament to leadership of our school leaders and their commitment to communities.
