MSGIA Emergency Operations Management Planning App Reimbursement Program
The MSGIA recognizes how important Emergency Operations Management (EOM) planning can be for school district staff and administrative teams. To improve communication and to increase understanding of emergency plans – as well as overall emergency awareness – school districts are beginning to use mobile technology apps. In response, we at MSGIA are now offering a partial-expense reimbursement grant program, which we expect will help significantly decrease the cost of implementing and maintaining EOM apps.
Beginning July 1, 2024, the MSGIA will reimburse up to $1,000 for MSGIA member school districts that elect to begin using a qualifying EOM app (this is for a first-year, initial implementation cost only).
For districts already using a qualifying EOM response app, the MSGIA will cover up to $500 to offset the annual renewal costs of maintaining the app subscription and services. (Please note that qualifying expenses also begin July 1, 2024.)
A qualifying EOM response app must, at minimum, offer a minimum of each of the following features:
- The ability for staff, administrators, and first responders to communicate through the app;
- The ability to map district campuses and/or buildings;
- The ability to alert staff/administrators/first responders about the type of crisis being experienced; and,
- The ability to load steps or instructions onto the app for different crisis events.
Districts can submit proof of a paid invoice for either first-year implementation costs, as described above, or a paid renewal invoice from their EOM app provider (the MSGIA will reimburse the district as described above).
Our goal is to help districts create better training and real-life crisis response outcomes using EOM tools. So, please feel free to call me to discuss how this MSGIA reimbursement program could work for your district this next school year!
